Better absorbable Boswellia

Boswellia is an extract that can inhibit inflammatory factors and thus support the health of joints and arteries. In this supplement, we use a standardized form of boswellia called AprèsFlex®, which is absorbed into the blood 52 percent better than conventional boswellia extracts. Each vegetarian capsule of 5-LOX Inhibitor with AprèsFlex® contains 100 mg of this innovative extract.

5-Lipoxygenase (5-LOX) is an enzyme that converts fatty acids into leukotrienes. Because 5-LOX levels increase over time, excess 5-LOX has been linked to some of the most common effects of normal aging.

Boswellia extract inhibits 5-LOX

The Indian plant Boswellia serrata contains compounds that have been shown to inhibit 5-LOX, thereby supporting joint and artery health. Boswellia inhibits 5-LOX at the cellular level. Scientific data shows that a compound in Boswellia called AKBA (3-O-acetyl-11-keto-ß-boswellic acid) is the key to this beneficial effect.

However, boswellia compounds are poorly absorbed into the blood. For this reason, we use AprèsFlex®, a standardized form of boswellia extract. AprèsFlex® is 52% more absorbed into the blood than conventional boswellia extracts.

Nutritional factors increase the occurrence of 5-LOX

The typical American diet increases 5-LOX levels. Foods rich in omega-6 fatty acids, such as red meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products, along with high glycemic index carbohydrates, trigger the production of arachidonic acid. The body produces 5-LOX enzyme in response to arachidonic acid.
