Elemental Selenium is based on concentrated mineral drops (CMD), a special seawater concentrate from the Great Salt Lake (Utah, USA) with the full spectrum of minerals and trace elements (almost completely freed from sodium and in this case supplemented with additional selenium in the form of sodium selenate). This product is produced through a traditional and natural concentration process using solar energy.

The minerals and trace elements in the product Elemental Selenium occur as electrolytes in dissolved and ionic form. That is, not in combination with other elements, but as individual electrically charged particles. Magnesium chloride (MgCl2), for example, is split into the ions Mg2+ (positively charged magnesium) and Cl- (negatively charged chloride) when dissolved in water. Minerals also occur in our body in this way, dissolved in intracellular and extracellular fluids such as blood plasma. Minerals in ionic form are therefore easy to absorb.

About Selenium and its Health Effects
Selenium is an important antioxidant. Certain enzymes (seleno-enzymes), such as glutathione peroxidase (GPx), depend on selenium and play an important role in scavenging free radicals. Selenium, for example, helps protect against oxidative damage. In addition, selenium supports the immune system by contributing to the production of certain white blood cells (immune cells). Selenium is also needed for normal thyroid function, as it is involved in the regulation of thyroid hormones. Among other things, it helps convert the inactive thyroid hormone (thyroxine, which consists of the amino acid tyrosine combined with four iodine atoms, or T4) into its active form (triiodothyronine, or T3).
