However, they taste slightly earthy to nutty. Since fresh Acai berries spoil after just 36 hours, these fruits are processed into high-quality Acai powder using a gentle process immediately after harvest.
The acai berry is the small red to black berries of the "acai palm" (Euterpe oleracea).
Since it grows mainly in areas where mechanical harvesting is very difficult or not possible at all, each berry is picked by hand.
